Thai Colors

When living in, or visiting Thailand it’s useful to be able to say the color of something you want to buy or ask a shop keeper to get for you. Just saying the color without extra words can get what you need. So let’s start with the basic colors and then move on to the wider range of shades and tones you may need!

What color do you like?  / คุณชอบสีอะไรคะ / kun chôrp sĭi à-rai ká?

ม่วง /mûang/                      purple
คราม /kraam/                     indigo
น้ำเงิน /náam ngern/       dark blue
เขียว /kĭao/                          green
เหลือง /lŭeang/                  yellow
/som/ orange
แสด /sàed/                         red-orange
แดง /daeng/                       red
ขาว /kăao/                                          white
ดำ /dam/                                             black
ฟ้า /fáa/                                                blue
ชมพู /chom-puu/                              pink
ทอง /tong/                                          gold
เงิน /ngern/                                         silver
*เงิน /ngern/ also means ‘money’
น้ำตาล /náam dtaan/                      brown
*น้ำตาล /náam dtaan/ also means ‘sugar’
